Rose Valley Falls Trail

A beautiful 2-tier waterfall in the Los Padres National Forest past Ojai. It’s an easy hike to the base of the 100 ft tall lower-tier — very kid-friendly. It’s a much longer trek and more difficult to reach the upper tier. The water is enjoyable during the summer, but at its boldest during early spring.

Arroyo Valley Park Loop

An easy 2.3-mile loop trail in Ventura, but you can increase the difficulty with some of the side trails. Offers ocean and Channel Island views and hills filled with wildflowers. This is an all-sun, no shade hike so may not be as fun during hot days.

Serra Cross Grant Park Trail

A 4-mile moderate trail that offers beautiful views of wildflowers, the ocean, and downtown Ventura. Botanical Gardens is also in the same area.

Piedra Blanca Formation Trails

Part of the Los Padres National Forest that features a river immediately upon the start — worth it for that alone! The rock formations at the end of the hike are very cool but make sure to bring bug spray.

Mugu Peak Trail

A 2.7-mile loop trail in Malibu that seriously works out your glutes, so not for the faint-hearted — but so worth it for the 180-degree view of the Pacific.
